The Lodge at Avalaire

Progress on The Lodge at Avalaire is barreling toward the September 29th Parade of Homes judging day, upon which the 7,000 sq. ft. home will have first eyes laid on it as a finished, furnished, and polished High Country Craftsman estate. A visit to the site located at 5105 Avalaire Oaks Drive last Tuesday revealed major developments happening this week —  custom curved kitchen cabinetry was delivered by Kitchen and Bath Galleries (say that 5 times, fast), walnut tread staircases were installed in the stair towers by Vision Stairways and Millwork, stone was laid by Custom Stone and Tile Inc., and interior trim was installed by Tricity Interiors. The Lodge is quickly taking form and at this stage in the build high-end finishes and custom unique features are arriving almost daily.

We are ecstatic to open the doors of this stately home to the public for the 2017 Wake County Parade of Homes. Mark your calendars; the parade runs September 30 – October 1, October 6-8 and 13-15 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Bost Homes’ staff is antsy to deliver the finished product, and help navigate and answer your questions during the open house. We’re building The Lodge at Avalaire to serve multiple purposes, for Bost Custom Homes, for Avalaire, and for the new home market of the Triangle. Firstly, this is a Bost Homes Showcase where we along with our trade partners have the opportunity to “be the homeowners” in the design decisions and vision formulation. Our team member Eric Sherman puts it best:

“Working on a model home is always exciting and really just a fun undertaking at Bost Homes, especially in the context of a neighborhood like Avalaire.  We form a cohesive team of experts and collaborate on a livable piece of art that showcases the best parts of what we do.  Working with clients is an amazingly rewarding process and our entire approach to building is geared towards helping our clients realize their vision.  We love it.  Building a Model Home, however, is an opportunity to put our heads together as a team; to create our vision based on our collective experiences and to fulfill our desire to try something new.  It gives us a chance to create something truly unique and innovative while giving us free reign to think miles outside of the box in our pursuit of the wow-factor.” – Eric Sherman

Active Sales Center

In addition to being a showcase for Bost Homes, The Lodge will serve Avalaire as the model home and sales center for a minimum of two and half years. The Young Team of Coldwell Banker HPW will set up the sales office in the home as a meeting space for potential neighbors. Additionally, The Lodge is going to be a spectacular venue for various events over the next several years, including black-tie events, charity fundraisers, and Bost Homes sponsored neighborhood parties.

Leading The Industry

Lastly and most importantly, we hope to demonstrate to the broader Triangle residential market what is possible in a luxury custom home today. Construction is typically an industry of inertia compared to the rapid changes occurring in other industries with technological evolution. Recognizing this, we are intentionally pushing for the unconventional and including dozens of unique features that inspire, promote well being, and elevate lifestyle inside and out. These include technological advances like voice controlled smart home scenes, auto-sanitizing toilets, and an energy monitoring and management system. Aesthetic features of prominence include back-lit, glowing lucent quartzite flooring in the wine cellar, stately timber trusses and arches in vaulted ceilings, color changing ambient lighting around the pool, and a frosted glass motorized pocket door in the Owner’s suite. The Lodge will enhance the lifestyle of the owners via retractable hose central vacuum, recessed luggage storage compartments in the master closet, and smart home connectivity that allows the owners to access and control their home from their phone.

Finally, we believe a home should promote health, well-being, and sustainability. The Lodge at Avalaire includes a 10kW solar pavilion in the backyard that provides shade for pool-side lounging while harvesting half of the home’s electricity needs from the sun. All interior paint will be Low/Zero VOC, and the custom cabinetry by Crystal Cabinets is constructed of plywood produced with formaldehyde-free technology and is 100% made in the US. Five day-lighting tunnels bring natural light into the interior of the home and the state of the art HVAC system with WiFi thermostats will ensure comfort and energy efficiency while improving indoor air quality via filtration and dehumidification.

If you’d like to experience these features and the masterful architecture by the Studio of Christopher Phelps, mark your calendar for this year’s Parade of Homes.
