For the second installment of The Lodge at Avalaire Vendor Spotlight we’re going to focus on critical partners that helped create a grand entrance for those stepping into the home. The entry door appears to be a pair of mahogany French doors, however looks can be deceiving. For ease of maintenance and energy efficiency performance we chose Jeld-Wen’s Aurora Series fiberglass door in a custom design featuring mahogany grain and mocha stain, which is nearly indistinguishable from real mahogany (you really have to look for it). Not only does this door outperform a wood door in terms of insulation and warp resistance, but it requires less maintenance. Supplied by a huge partner, BMC building materials supplier.
Step into the foyer and onto the 18″ x 36″ Smoke Limestone tiles provided by Triangle Tile and Stone and installed by Cornerstone Marble and Tile. Many Parade of Homes attendees commented on the unique, smooth look of this limestone. It’s bright neutral tone gives the space expansiveness and distinguishes the foyer from the rest of the main floor which is mostly engineered oak flooring.
Prominent in the above photo is a satin baby grand piano. This state of the art Yamaha DGC1 Enspire ST Disklavier Baby Grand pushes the limits of possibility on an acoustic instrument. It can record and playback recordings, play along with music via Yamaha MusicCast Library, and even share data with the home audio-video system to play in sync with concert DVDs and audio recordings.
Raleigh’s premier Yamaha dealer, Ruggero Piano, provided this Disklavier for The Lodge and partnered with us to provide preferred pricing on pianos to our clients and friends. For example, save ~$2,300 off the showroom price on the above piano when you contact Ruggero Piano and mention this promotion. Click here to contact Ruggero Piano.
Design Works Studios was instrumental in many of the design decisions for The Lodge at Avalaire, including the striking lighting and furniture selections. Directly beyond the foyer, and pictured below, the living room is anchored around a masonry fireplace surround designed by Bost Homes, with beautiful furniture and fixtures that create one of our favorite views in the home. Furniture and decor selections by Elizabeth Allran of Design Works Studios. Donna Davis, owner of DWS, was the chief interior designer on the project.
The Lodge features a vaulted stair tower which marks a stately architectural impression on the exterior and interior of the home. A 12 ft. tall archtop window is appropriately proportioned in this voluminous space, granting passage of light gleaming from the chandelier, provided by Capitol Lighting Gallery. But the chandelier isn’t the only thing gleaming in the stair tower.
Vision Stairways and Millwork partnered with us on custom designing and fabricating the exceptionally wide main staircase, including the recessed channel for LED strip lighting beneath each tread. The glowing backlit effect is stunning, especially at night, and adds to the ambiance of the space. Rich walnut forms the newel posts, handrails, and treads. Each iron baluster kills into a heavy side mounted iron bracket giving the rail a unique open look.
Thank you to all of our partners for making this dream home come true! Contact us with any questions by replying to this email or calling (919) 460-1983.
