Bost Custom Homes is a member organization of a niche trade group called the National Custom Builders Council which comprises about two dozen luxury custom builders from across the country. Unlike large trade groups where members easily get lost in the shuffle, NCBC members share in an intimate experience of trusted relationships and best practice sharing between company principals and their team members. Our latest meeting was October 5th – 8th in historic Charleston, SC, and was hosted by member builder Sifly Fine Custom Homes. Throughout the sessions we shared insights and best practices from our various perspectives, and toured three incredible properties built by Sifly Homes. In the evenings we fellowshipped and strengthened ties, often relating on the common joys and challenges of building complex custom homes.

The principal members of the NCBC, the company owners, freely share information in a beneficial, non-competitive manner while the team members discuss specific topics of interest. This year we unpacked a number of dense topics ranging from subcontractor management, liability, rising costs, company culture, and marketing. Actionable processes were shared, while new goals were introduced to further push all of the member companies forward. The meetings and presentations were wildly informative and inspirational, and we are eager to begin implementing fresh ideas at Bost Homes for the benefit of our clients, team members, subcontractors, and the community.

As if the insightful discussions weren’t motivating enough, we then toured three incredible estates on Kiawah Island; one under construction, and two completed homes of various age. First we visited the construction site of an industrial modern $5m+ estate with incredible views of the expansive bay behind Kiawah island. Next up we toured a 2006 completion, a cedar shake cottage style estate with a contemporary interior, followed by a 7,000 ft. classic Charlestonian beach house with stunning bay vistas. Enjoy the photos below, and know that through our affiliation with the National Custom Builders Council we are continuing to search for ways to deliver innovative value and excellence to our clients.
