High Performance Homes
We understand the importance of building a home that is healthy for you and your family, resource efficient, low maintenance, and comfortable.
Third-Party Verified
Every Home Receives a HERS Score
The HERS Index is the industry-standard scoring system for measuring a home's energy efficiency — similar to MPG ratings for vehicles.
A score of 100 is equivalent to a 2006 code-compliant reference home.
Scoring is determined by complex energy modeling software that factors in on-site testing data, size, orientation, climate, systems, and features.
A score of 0 represents a Net Zero home that produces as much energy as it consumes.

2026 Bost Model
Score of the 2026 Bost Model Home, achieved through a systematic combination of tight air barrier, premium windows, passive solar design, SPF insulation, high efficiency HVAC, photovoltaic production, and active battery usage overnight.
Products & Techniques
Building the Home as a System
Standard and optional high-performance specifications listed below. Don't see something you'd like to include in your home? Let's add it to the list.
Standard
Sealed Insulated Attics
Sealed and insulated attics align the thermal and air barrier around the home, and increase the efficiency and comfort of HVAC equipment.
Integrated Dehumidifying Ventilation System
Continuously supplies outside air into the HVAC system, through a dehumidifier to improve indoor comfort and air quality.
2x6 Exterior Walls
When building with lumber, all exterior walls are 2x6 stud walls, achieving R19 - R22 insulation.
Water Filtration
Reverse Osmosis drinking water stations, sediment filters, and softeners are standard when needed, but there are many degrees of water filtration available throughout the home.
Generator / EV Charging Ready
Our homes are wired ready to add whole home generators and EV chargers, which can easily be added during construction or after move in.
Insulated Hot Water Recirculation Loops
Reduces heat loss and wait time for hot water delivery.
High Performance Windows
Argon-filled, Low-E coated windows that reflect summer radiant energy and retain winter heat.
Sealed & Insulated Crawlspace
Creates a cleaner, drier, and more conditioned crawlspace, reducing the likelihood of moisture problems, increasing comfort, and increasing HVAC efficiency.
Interior Sound Insulation
Rockwool sound insulation within walls around bathrooms, laundry room, and bedrooms.
Advanced Air Sealing Caulking & Foam
Reduces air leakage at common infiltration points, installed pre-insulation.
Smart Irrigation Zones
Prevents water waste by independently managing turf and bed watering schedules, with rain sense to prevent irrigating on rainy days.
High-Efficiency HVAC
16 SEER, Variable Speed, 95% AFUE equipment minimum. Higher efficiencies available.
Optional
Masonry Framing
Concrete exterior walls creates stronger, tighter building envelope than traditional framing. Thermal massing creates a more uniform thermal environment, sound insulation, and structural integrity..
European Wax Hardwood Floors
Wax-finished floors provide a polyurethane-free finish that patinas over time and can be spot-touched for scratches.
Solar Power
Solar panels charge battery banks, providing backup during power loss and overnight. Excess power can be sold back to the utility or used to power the home via smart load panels..
Rainwater Harvesting System
Collects water for irrigation reuse, reducing water costs and municipal supply demand. Decreases flooding, erosion, and surface water contamination.
Greenguard Certified Materials
From carpets, to drywall, to plywood; we have helped clients procure building materials that are certified to provide higher indoor air quality.
Dual Flush Toilets
Substantially reduces water consumption with selectable flush volume.
Geothermal HVAC
Uses the earth's constant temperature to greatly increase heating and cooling efficiency.
Rockwool Insulation
Rockwool provides superior sound dampening, moisture resistance, fire resistance, and higher recycled content.
HEPA Media Filters
Removes 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 micrometers and larger. HVAC design can incorporate these filters for more robust air filtration.
Reclaimed Materials
Reclaimed brick, barnwood, recycled insulation, etc. to reduce the demand on virgin materials.
Energy Management System
Smart load centers such as the SPAN Panel offers real-time monitoring of electricity usage, smart control of circuits via app, and integration with solar energy systems. It enhances energy efficiency and allows homeowners to manage their electric demand more effectively
Native & Organic Plantings
Hardy, drought-resistant landscaping that requires less maintenance and water. We've even installed certified organic sod before.
Passive Solar Design
Maximizes winter warmth through solar gain while minimizing summer heat exposure.
