Rex built our home several years ago, and we still love it just as much today. We were living in Connecticut when we decided to move to the Triangle area, so building a house was a challenge from long distance. Every time we met with the team from Bost, our questions were put to rest because we knew that we were in good hands.

Ultimate care was taken with every detail, from the exterior look, picking out cabinetry and finishes, to making sure that lighting selections and hardware would make sense in our new home.

Even after our year of call backs was over, Rex always would graciously return my call and help in any way possible. We would not hesitate to recommend Bost Custom Homes to anyone planning on building or renovating their home.

We have known Rex and Brenda for over 29 years as Rex and I have worked on music projects through the years. Kathy and I attended many Parade of Homes through the years and were always beyond impressed by his work. We always hoped one day he could build our dream retirement home in the Parkside community of Wilmington. In 2011 several events came together which placed us in a position to build our retirement home several years before moving full time to Wilmington. Rex helped us select a lot in Parkside, engaged a home designer, and worked with us to define our goals. One of our initial questions was if Rex could translate the quality and detail of Bost Homes into a Charleston low country design. The results speak for themselves.

There were several key features which were critical to meet our retirement needs. We required an in-law apartment with a separate entrance and a kitchen so that a family member could lead a self- sufficient lifestyle. Since we enjoy cooking and entertaining, the kitchen, dining room, and living room needed to accommodate our lifestyle while maintaining an open ambience. Kathy especially wanted a sunroom and a potting shed. We wanted a small, private backyard with enough space to support our outdoor lifestyle as well as Kathy’s love for gardening. Other important features included a pantry, large downstairs master with a claw foot tub, tiled shower, water closet and plenty of closet space. Our upstairs needs were simple- two guestrooms and media/hobby room. Rex and the designers translated all of these requirements plus our drawings into a wonderful plan which was beyond our expectations, but also slightly larger than our target size of 3200 sf. We realized this would present some challenges to Rex and his team since our budget was very rigid. Our most important consideration was the construction cost and that was where Rex and Brenda truly excelled past our expectations. The challenge was to provide these features in a package we could afford during retirement without sacrificing the quality of a Bost Custom Home.

TWe cannot express our gratitude and even amazement that the project was brought to construction UNDER our target per square foot cost. We were building a larger house than we planned but yet Rex found ways to make it affordable. We have lived there part-time for almost a year now but every time we arrive from Cary, we walk through the downstairs to admire the home before we even unpack the car. We love everything about the home and have yet to wish we had done anything different. We have one of the nicest kitchens in Parkside with a Wolf range, separate wall oven, enormous sub-zero refrigerator, farmhouse sink, beautiful cabinets and countertops, large pantry and 4×7 center isle with bar seating and a gorgeous solid walnut top.

If there was any single aspect about Bost Custom Homes that most stands out it is the people. It starts with Rex and Brenda, their staff, continues with the site superintendent and carries through all of the subcontractors. We personally met workers and leaders from every phase of our construction. Often they provided valuable input and helped us make decisions during the planning and construction phases. There are several improvements which were made as a direct result of these walkthroughs. We are thrilled to be living our dream of a Bost Custom Home and thank Rex and Brenda immensely for making it happen.

You literally took the fears out of the building process by your responsiveness, paying attention to the details, implementing our best ideas in a cost effective manner, and keeping a watchful eye on all the sub contractors. Your experience and knowledge was invaluable during the project and you assumed all responsibility for making sure the project was completed on time and within our budget constraints. We were quite pleased to learn that whenever you discovered an item that was not done right, you made sure it was done over to your satisfaction. The results came through loud and clear from the independent inspector we hired. His final report noted that the workmanship and materials used were generally superior to those found in homes of comparable price range and size seen in this area.
